    MX7001 toner

I have an MX5500 which had an F2-65 code. I cleaned out the toner tube, which I think was clogged and the code didn't come back. However, it was then calling for cyan toner. The toner cartridge was full. The customer had changed the cartridge twice before I got there thinking it was bad cartridges from the factory. We have had this happen from time to time. I put in another cartridge and the problem was gone.

My question is, if the tube was clogged, the DV unit would think the toner was empty. Would this somehow disable the cartridge? Can the CRUM chip be reset?
I know I should be ashamed of myself. Strangely though, I am not.

    You are spot on!

If the dev is not recieving toner, the toner supply trouble code appears for that particular color, and it disables the crum chip. Even though the toner is full, the crum chip has been blown and will always say empty.

This happens on the C-Dragons/Venus series when the toner pipe is blocked or dev unit is seized/dev unit drive belt broken, or on the smaller MX machines when the sealing tape is also left on the new cartridge too.

Can the chip be reset??....... We dont, but I have been involved in cases where we could swap the crum chips over due to another cartridge being damaged, to make one good cartridge from 2 bad ones.
