    Sharp MX-C311

Has anyone had experience with the MX-C311 doing 9,000/copies-prints per month and actually doing it trouble free?

I want to get a client a machine and they don't want to spend a lot - I am not sure that this machine could do this over a Three-year period.

    Thanks for any input.

we have been having problems with the fusing units (shared with the B401) they lock up and strip a gear in the drive section in the back, and if im not mistaken this machine also has the unit that pushes the second transfer in and out like the B401 which we have had problems with it warping and the gears not meshing together. both these are easy fixes but can be a pita if it happens frequently. hopefully sharp will have updates for these parts soon

There is a new fuser out.

What is color to bw ratio. I try to keep these machines in a less than 5K color a month accounts.

        B&W - 7k a month - Color - Minimal.

Yeah, we have a few out there doing that amount of work. Didnt think they would handle it, but they seem to be going quite well.
I agree with the fuser unit issue, but the new design will fix these problems.
The machine overall is mostly plastic & quite noisy. Make sure it will not be in a quiet location, as you will have complaints.
Everything is so easy to service on these. Dont need a screwdriver to change fuser, drums, devs or belt unit.
We have had more issues than anything with the machine not detecting drums installed, but a few modifications to the drum detect assembly fixed those up.

Overall, a decent cheap little desktop replacement machine. I wouldnt do more than what you have stated already per month, but it will handle what you have quoted quite well.

Canada still has not been able to get these new fuser kits... Apparently the USA won't release their stock yet.

I'd be cautious on copy/scan volumes. That document feeder is crap. If the new fuser takes care of the bearing issue i think the rest of the machine might be ok. The paper feed and Reg unit comes out so easy. The back is a nightmare though. Sharp still does not put any grease in the fuser drive on the inside. It sqeakes until you add grease.

Oh hell yeah.... I agree with Lawrence totally on the ADF problems. I forgot to mention that.
The ADF roller/pad kit can be changed over blindfolded, but it still is a basic doc feeder.

The tray lift up units tend to be alittle weak as well. They have been modified, as they would make alot of noise & fail to lift a full paper tray of 500sheets. The newer lift motor units are better, but still lacking much grease inside them. On high use machines, I dismantled the lift motor unit & pack the gearbox full of white grease. Has not let me down yet...... and stops the awful straining noise it makes when lifting a heavy paper tray.
