Formatting HD On Sharp M355n and M455n

I have a customer that has seen and heard of all the issues regarding data stored on HD's. They are wanting me to completely wipe off their Hard Drives. They did not purchase the security kit at the time of purchase. Is there a way to complete this task for them? Unfortunately I am not a certified Sharp Tech. Thanks in advance for the help.

Test command 62-1 will format the drive, it takes quite awhile (almost one hr), but this is not really wiping it clean. I suppose several formats would make it cleaner, but to be really safe, remove the HDD and smash it or give it to the customer, and have the customer buy a replacement.

What are the steps for getting into where I can run that Test command 62-1 procudure. Sorry I am very unfamiliar with the Sharp touch panels. Thanks for your help.

Press # * C * , it should have a display asking for a main program number, enter 62, press the start copy button, then enter 1 and start copy. You will then be asked if you want to format HDD, press 1 for yes and it should start. Again, the formatting could take 45 min to an hour or more.

No problem, glad to help; after formatting, it should reboot, if not press the CA key.

It does not set it back to factory defaults and I don't think it will reset the IP address or wipe out the address book (but I could be wrong on this). Access the web page (IP address in browser address line) of the copier and check the destination list after formatting. You should also check if there is any thing in Document Filing that didn't get wiped out with the formatting.
