Dont think USB is supported mate. Its not an optional item. Standard Parallel or optional Network.

There is a generic PCL driver for that series of machine you could try if you had a USB to Parallel converter.

I have also had some success with the Pricom 3100 Parallel to Ethernet converter. This was offered by Sharp to give a cheaper alternative to the full network option, provided the customer did not want scanning. The only problem that I have had intermittently on some workstations was that I had to physically connect the parallel cable to the computer (which you say you do not have) to complete the driver installation, after the required reboot to finish the driver installation. I experienced this on one XP workstation. All of my other installs have gone well by installing the Pricom Port Driver. I also use the "Add Printer" option to manually install the printer, not the fully automated version which requires the reboot to finish the driver install.

I hope this helps a little.

If you are using the PCL6 driver executable program it will not work the way you are trying to do it. I have used a generic print driver (HP LJ4000) with the parallel port but you do not get full functionality with this just the ability to print 8-1/2 x 11 or A4.

          Good luck.

I would try what Bilyahn is suggesting. I have not had any success with the USB to Parallel Adapter myself. The Silex Pricom 3100 was the only thing that worked for me.

            Take care
