    it is displaying error code L1 i need help.

      Is the scanner lock on? On the smaller copiers, the lock is under the optics area in the front left corner. If it is locked, unlock it and power off/on.

          Take the lock out of the frame & throw it away. 'Permanent fix'.

              throw the locker knob away. and clean the scanner carriage shaft
