    Sharp FO-4470 please wait

I have a FO-4470 that just cycles please wait and then it goes off and back on again and nothing else. I tested the wall outlet only to find the customer has 145v coming out which probably did not help. I tested the output voltage from the power supply and even though it was high (becouse of the input voltage) but not cycling off and on.

Any help on this before I start changing parts?

Before you change any parts have them fix the outlet voltage; even with a +/-10% margin the voltage should be between 108VAC - 132VAC.

That just reads as too obvious.....

PWT is right. Any fluctuating or high/low voltage is the first place to look. Move the machine to a different location and try again. Possibly the AC board is damaged from excess power. A off/on effect can be a dud relay.

I had a DC500 doing this. Kept power cycling but if i recall mine would some times come ready. I checked all the 24v, 5v lines coming from the power supply into the main board and they never seemed to drop when the fax rebooted. We suggested replacing the main board first but the customer did not want to spend $1200 on the board so we never found out if we were right.

We ruled out the power supply since none of the voltages ever dropped but it was possible it was happening so fast the meter never caught it.
