    MXC311 light streak

    Hello all!!!
I am having some trouble with an MXC311 giving a light streak on trailing edge of paper. If I run 5 sky shots, I ussually get one that is like the example I have posted, and the others are fine. It happens really randomly. It is only on black, I have ran about 20 sky shots with other colors and have not gotten it to do it. I looked through bulletins and have not seen anything that could help me. Has anyone ever had this before? Can anyone lead me in the right direction?
I have replace the BK drum unit, and today I am going to change the DV unit and see if it makes any difference. Thanks for any info!!!! Happy fixing!!

Well, it cant be the drum, because it would have repeated down the page several times. We both know the drum rotation circumfrence on the Frontiers is very small, so 4 or 5 of those marks would have appeared if the drum was scratched or damaged.

When you say skyshot, do you mean a real skyshot with the ADF open, or a solid engine print of a color in sim 64-01?
The first image looks alot like a solid engine print, while the second image is obviously a copy of that. Am I right? Otherwise, its a damn good skyshot the first one.

Ruling out a problem with the optics would be where I start from. Running solid engine prints will confirm this.
Check for a small scratch on the glass too.

It looks more like a problem with the glass. If it was something in the optics, all skyshot copies would have it. If it was a engine based problem, it would repeat at a consistant ratio.

Knowing if the first image was an engine print (skyshot) or a true skyshot with the ADF open would help abit more.
And, does the small mark on the solid black pages appear as a black mark on a white page?

Wazza: the first one is a true sky shot from the same copier. It can't be the optics as it does it on self print engine tests as well.

Thought I would add this to make it a little more interesting:
The display is flickering while making copies. Not sure if this is related to my problem, but now that I see that I am thinking it has to be a power board issue. Any other thoughts? Thanks thus far!

Update: it is also doing it in color!

Have you had a look at the connectors in and around the scanner section. I would look at the SCN CNT PWB and the wiring harnesses.

I will take onboard the info provided by DavePo. I remember those days with Xerox, on one of their machines produces the same image posted whenever there was a break in the scanner ribbon cable. Try reseating PJs on SCN Pwb or replace ribbon cable.

            Hey
thanks for the responses! However, I don't think it can be anything within the scanner as self print engine tests do it as well.
