    MX-5000n user authentication

I installed a MX-5000 yesterday on the server to print and email scanning, I was then informed the customer only wanted two computers to be able to use colour the rest only black and white so I setup user control. Thing is the customer doesnt like having to log in to use copying, is there anyway that I can stop colour copying and printing without user authentication on mono copying.

    Thanks

    Yes there is.

Never tried it myself... Let me know if its working

This is from a TSB :

    For copying:

    B & W Default User Walk-up
    With Authentication for Colour

First go to user control then default settings in the web interface. Select
and enable your method of authentication and click, submit. Next go to
user list and create a black and white only user. To do this fill out all info as
needed and when you get to “Authority Group” setting, choose the “Guest
account”. This is the user that will be locked into the device account mode.
Next go back to default settings and choose “Device account mode” and
have box for “allow login by different user” checked. Then go into “user
selection(C)” button and choose the black and white user you created.
Click on Confirmation, and then click OK. Once done click submit so the
settings are saved to the machine. Now when you approach the machine
you will be able to make a copy in black and white only and not in colour. If
it is asking for ‘login’ all you have to do is hit the cancel button above the
login line on the right side of the LCD. The rest of the users are created as
desired and if you want to login to do colour, hit the logout key and login as
    that colour user.

    For printing:

If User Authentication is not desired for Printing

Create an Authority Group that allows the permission for printing and then assign it to the Guest Account.
Make sure Disabling Printing of Invalid User is unchecked under the User Control menu in System Settings.
Once unchecked, modify the Guest account by pressing the User Registration button under the User Control menu.
Next press the Modify/Delete button and then press the Default User button.
Next modify the Other User (or Guest) account.
Once inside page down once to find the Authority Group setting and change it to the Authority Group
created for Printing and press Modify to save and then exit.
Printing without User Authentication is now allowed
