    Sharp error code

not to familiar with sharp, it is a sharp mx-3501n. The service code i am getting is u2-05. Can anyone enlighten me as to what this error code is and what i can do to clear it. Any help would be appreciated.

U2-05 is a HDD/EEPROM/flash data discrepancy. Back up your file data/firmware onto a flash drive with sim 56-2, initialize settings with sim 16 and restore backup with 56-1.

As I understand it from when we had this issue some time ago, when your machine shuts down it stores some configuration information. Then when it powers up again, it compares the "current" info with the stored info - if they do not match it gives you the code. Our issue ended up being either a bad HDD or HDD cable (cannot say which as they were replaced at same time). Normally, if a tech was onsite, we used the sim to clear it. If not, we had the customer turn it off and unplug it, then back on again. Sometimes that worked - sometimes not. Really chased the dog on this one until replacing the HDD & cable.

          Your milage may vary.
