[Misc] Sharp Network Scan to E-mail issues

I have double checked the following:
    • Network Settings
    • DNS Settings
    • Exchange settings
    • Exchange logs
    • Firewall Settings and Logs

I have done network scans while the copiers are trying to send and noticed none of the normal error packets that you would expect to find with communication errors or failures. I have contacted my Sharp service representative and they have no idea and are blaming my network. Since the device has no logs or events that I can look at I am at a loss for what is causing it.

    Any ideas?

Since you have 2 copiers doing the same problem, its either network related(software, hardware) or incorrect settings entered in the mfp.

First thing i would try, if on the copier you used the name instead of a ip adress as the smtp server, i would enter the ip to eliminate dns problems.

I'm aware for Sharps that when using exchange servers that SMTP authentication must be enabled, have you checked your settings for that? You did not state if it was active or not, something to look at.

Although I agree this sounds like its something on your network side rather than the copiers, I would have the service company verify that the copiers firmware is up to date.

And also agree, since your using an internal server, your smtp settings on the copier should have the IP address rather than the server name of the mail server.

          Problem Solved:

I turned up the response time of both DNS and Exchange toallow for up to 60 seconds for a response. I then found that by shrinking the reply to e-mail address it cut the timein half for the device to create and package the e-mail message.

          Also:
          • In exchange you do not need to have authentication on when sending messages from inside the network.
          • I try to avoid using static IP addresses when it comes to referencing servers since things can change and it avoids the headaches of running from machine to machine or device.

Thank you all for your help.
