    [Error Code] F2-64 on a MX-B402

Hey all. i've only been trained on 1 sharp machine, but i'm not trained on the MX-B402's. I had to do a new install today, followed all the steps, but withing 2 hours of the customer running the machine it asks to replace the toner catridge. This sucker is full.

I'm also getting an error F2-64. looking in the service manual tells me to replace the toner motor. (Another tech told me this is a common issue on these machine)Now i find sharp parts guides to be confusing as all hell.

Is this a common issue with new machines?

And can someone please tell me if the TN Motor FT is what i'm looking for. Parts Code RMOTD0992FCPZ.

Yes that part number is correct. I've yet to see this on a B402, but it is very common on the older Color models. F2-64 is alway a black toner issue. Alot of time just changing the toner cartridge will fix your issue. The code shows up because the white gears in the back will not turn. If you can't turn it by hand it is the cartridge. If you can turn it by hand it is the motor. Because of the design I see a lot of these get damaged in shipping.

      Good Luck!

With this particular machine we replaced the toner 3 times and within an hour or so it would prompt the customer to replace the black toner. Is it possible for the chip on the toner cartridge to become defective as a result? We took one of those full cartridges that the B402 was saying is empty and put it in another working machine and it still said it was empty. That's just so weird to me... its mind boggling.

It sounds like you may have a motor issue if thats the case. If the motor is defective, it can bind those gears causing the cartridge not to drop toner. Its not so much a chip issue. When you take it to another machine the damage is already done. Its going to say toner empty since there is no toner dropping from the cartridge. Once you replace that motor, I'd go ahead and start with a new cartridge. If the current cartridge is already messed up you don't want to mess up another motor. Just a thought. Just out of curiousity, how many clicks does this machine have on it?
