    [Error Code] E7-03 -> Sharp MX-550N

    Hi,

I recently purchased a Sharp MX-550N off an auction. However, whenever I turn on the unit I get this error message:

    "CODE: E7-03 Call For Service"

I looked up the error on the service manual and it is related to a Hard Drive Failure. However, when I try to put the number 62 in the panel to access the Hard Drive Section and try to do a format, it seems like the number 62 is blocked. I can access all other numbers except 62.

This got me thinking, the Copier has a sticker on it that says "Media Removed" because since it was bought off an auction they must delete all off the previous owners data and information. To this effect I think that they must have taken off the HDD from the Copier. If that's the case I need the answer to these questions:

    1. Where is the HDD located so that I can verify it was taken out or if there is one already there? (Please be detailed on the location cause I', kinda of a newbie when it comes to this )

    2. Let's say there is no HDD, I would need to know what type of HDD does the copier require and what size in GB does it support. (If you can provide a reference to where you found that info, it would be plus).

    3. If I purchase the new HDD, do I have to call in a technician to install it and perform the preliminary steps or is that a D-I-Y kinda thing?

    Thanks Again,

    W. Maldonado

possible the previous user take out the hard drive due to confidential issue. Try to input the simulation in copy mode, #*c* 22 start 10 start to check the hard drive exist or not.
if does not exist, buy a new hard drive and format it.the small dragon only need 80gb ide 3.5"hard drive

Perfect. I will try this out. However, can you point me to where the hard drive is located? Because when I install it I need to know where it goes

About the Hard Drive, I read that the copier bring by default a 40GB HDD. How can I confirm if its an IDE or SATA Drive?

Yes. But how do you know that the Hard Drive is IDE and not SATA? I just need to confirm this. I checked the Service Manuals... I checked online and everywhere and I can't seem to find where it states that the Sharp Copier requires an IDE or SATA Drive.

Where is the location of the Hard Drive? I checked the Service Manual and it does not display the location. However, I found that it does tell you where the HDD Fan is... so I assume that the Hard Drive must be close to this Fan.

Can you confirm if the Hard Drive is SATA or IDE by showing me some literature of the Copier? Sorry to question your answer but I just want to make sure I purchase the correct hard drive

          Thanks,

          W. Maldonado

Just confirmed with Sharp. It bring my default a 40GB HDD 3.5" IDE

Now... Do I just format it on the PC and install it to the Copier? Do I need to do any special formatting on the Hard Drive? (Like create specific folders, etc)?

Thru sim 62 you can format the HDD. If still you want to format it thru the PC it must be in Fat... Do not create anything... The machine does that by herself.

                Hi,

The thing is that I used an Old IDE 40Gb HDD from an old PC. It has files in it. I am going to format it to install a blank HDD to the Copier.
