Scan to Internet Fax using AR-M155 - How if at all possible?

    Hello,

First I must say I know nothing about faxing so excuse me if asking silly questions. Here goes the first one:

Is there a way to send a fax (to a fax number) using my AR-M155? In the online spec sheets I saw "Scan to internet fax using AR-NB2N" nut there was no further info.

I've got the fax kit and I've got the network expansion kit. I assume the fax kit is only usable if I have a working dedicated fax line, which I don't and I'm not planning on paying for one. It's just that - hardly any more often than once or twice a year - I might need to send a fax.

The big question is: can I do this with the equipment I have and without purchasing any extra software? Several "software fax" apps I found on the web require a dedicated fax/phone line so they're out of the question.

    Please let me know.

    Cheers!

I have never delt with Sharps I-Fax so im no guru on that. Do you have a regular house hold line in your house or have you gone to cell phones?

If you still have a phone line you could just hook the machine up to the line and turn off the auto reception and when ever a fax does come in run to the machine and tell it to answer the call while you have the noise screaming in your ear.

I know on most models you needed to purchase the internet fax expansion kit before you could use it.

Never actually had a fixed line phone, just mobiles and internet of course

Well, no, I don't have it.

Yep, I have both expansion kits. But to use the fax kit I need a fixed line, unless there's a way to control the fax options from the machine's panel but actually route the fax signals via the internet (by means of the network expansion kit). That's what the ideal option is.

Another possibility would be to send the fax from the machine's panel in the way you can choose which computer / email address / FTP to scan to on the LAN and what to do with the scan, e.g. "send via fax".

Yet another possibility would be to get some sort of software which can control the machine's scan section or the fax section directly. Ideally, that would be available from Sharpdesk.

EDIT: Attached images show screens from the setup menu when you have the network expansion kit.
