I have this here because although this has fax prefix it is copier/fax/printer and a general question about recharging of cartridge that contain chips. Can too much toner be refilled into cartridge so that it actually can impede the progress of toner agitator and thus not allow toner to be added to dv on mag roller and in effect causing chip to blow.
I have used this company's chip before on this model(FO-2080) as well as FO-DC550 and it has worked so I am a little doubtful about a poorly made chip being problem. Machine is calling for cartridge with light toner triangle flashing and machine not usable. Cartridge was put in last friday and when I was replenishing the cartridge I noticed I had put more in than I would normally as toner was about an inch to 2 inches away from cap. instead of removing some I took the chanced and closed it up. There is no way customer used the toner up in a few days and I put in new chip though it is generic. As I said I have used this same chip several times without incident. I don't have a cartridge in stock but have another chip and could go there and remove some toner and install new chip. I guess i should pick up a toner locally just in case.
Your input is very much appreciated . I know there are a lot of techs out there who don't relish the idea of generic toners and chips but the money can be substantial and think of it as payback to the mfrs. who have whored machines so they could sell the expensive toner cartridges. All this at technician's expense as when customers buy the cheaper machines they will not spend much for repair when they can replace cheaply. We got screwed out of a decent amount of business. Remember when the cheaper machines were $1500 and toners were in bottles for $25? You made decent money on the less expensive machines and could count on income from supplies and pm calls.
There is an ongoing question on this site about the worst copiers ever made but you know I would not mind going back to some of those copiers that went for a couple of thou and had 5k and 10k pmsthat kept the $ flowing. AHH for the good old days and the crappy machines that brought in the revenue. Frank/ActionPhotocopy
