    Sharp AR-M455N scanning

How are these machines for scanning? Is it hard to set-up scan to e-mail? I noticed the scan kit comes with Sharpdesk software for 10 users, is the software needed on the workstations to scan to e-mail? Can you take a scan kit off a used machine and install it on a new machine? Thanks for any information on this.

You do not need Sharpdesk to setup the machine to scan to email. You cannot take scanning from one machine to another as they are registered to the serial number of the MFP. See the following for scan to email instructions: Configuring Sharp MFPs to Scan to E-mail

Scan to e-mail does not support SSL, which most email providers are requiring.
Sharpdesk sets up scan to folder on each workstation then uses the computer to email the document.
If scanning is a priority for the customer I would upgrade them to something newer because of all the security Win 7 and Server 2008-2011 has.
I can be done but it is a pain to support.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

You can get a free GMX email account to use with this model. I set one of these up a few weeks ago with GMX and has been working fine.
Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!

Thanks for the information. Customer has their own e-mail server so I don't think SSL will be a problem.
