    [Jamming] Transparent issues

    Hey Ya'll,
I got a mite bit of a strange one, working on a MX-M 950 at a univeristy print shop, and they need to run a lot of transparencys, couple of hundred of them, lady running the shop tells me it has ran them before, but now it stops every time just as its getting into the transport area, at that first set of sensors, now these are a new type to me, look to be total photo-optic, no moving part, ie actuator arm, the jam code is PPD3_NM.
Now just how does a photo-optic sensor like that read a clear transparency, does it need a special type, sensing strip, I tried cleaning the sensors and all transport rollers in the unit, no go, when it jams, you can remove the misfed transparency and load a single sheet of plain paper, feeds it through with no prob.
    Any ideas ???

    Re: Transparent issues

i had the same issue.what i found is using a transparent with a white removeable strip on it.putting the strip in first.also i have found that the roller after the bypass need to be cleaned.when you take the center tray out.to the right take the black cover off,and remove the plate that has the white rollers off, clean the rubber rollers.but the transparent that has the white strip should take care of the issue.

I cleaned all the rollers in that unit, also using sheets with the sensing strip on them, did not seem to help, and its funny how I can remove the misfed transparency and load a plain sheet of paper and it will feed it right through with out changing any settings.

I agree with rainmaker, transperancies for a copier have a white sheet behind them that is removed after the copy process. They might be using OHP and I think that has to be used in the bypass and set to it which changes the speed and fusing temp. and the such.

Did 2 things to solve it, the rollers under the black cover, had missed them, and also turned off the double feed detect on the MFT, had gotten the last idea from a old friend that used to be on here a lot.
Now its feeding regular transparencies with no stripe.
