    Sharp FO-2080 system error E1-00

Customer called saying triangle was flashing so i assumed toner cartridge problem and came prepared for that. When I got there display said"system error(E1-00) refer to user guide. "
I removed cartridge and examined. Chip had one of the 3 pins bent. I looked inside with flashlight and did not see the female component.
I disassembled back , took off boards and toner motor and the female connecter with harness and plate unit is not there. Customer swears nobody was on machine. One of the girls there called an associate who said one of the employees there was trying to get machine to work.
The only problem is there is no way this guy could take off the crum chip connection without damage as he would have to force the unit out which would mean damage to plastic from ripping out screw and then there is the connector going to board. This looks like someone in service came in and took apart machine and removed the crum chip harness unit.
I assume that may be why there is e1-00 code though i would expect replace toner cartridge message or u2-40 or something like that.
    Please give input.
I sold customer this machine in beginning of September and customer and I gave customer 90 days parts and labor on-site warranty. Customer had called twice in morning while i was in office but called on my cell phone instead of business # and my cell was off. They may have gotten restless and called someone else and that person I assume took out crum harness as it's not there. Please provide input. Frank/ActionPhotocopy

I feel a little silly because when I downloaded the parts manual it does not show a female connection as does a sister machine FO-DC550. They both use the same TD cartridge(FO-55ND) which has the crum chip. The FO-DC550 has the female connector with harness and holding bracket etc.
It seems weird that the machine uses a cartridge with a chip when it does not need one. Perhaps the DV connector is different from the Al cartridges otherwise they look identical except for chip. I disconnected the Fax modem board from the main board and the machine was working but of course no fax feature. That doesn't tell me necessarily that it's the fax board as it could be MCU. I have machine inmy place and will check it out further later. Frank

This is follow-up to previous post. I brought customer a Sharp AL-1661CS loaner. I was using it in my place for last few years and have had no problems faxing and receiving. Customer called after one day and said could not fax out , that machine was not responding to pressing of #s. I went there to check and when i press speaker I don't get dial tone which I always did in the past. Customer is able to receive faxes.
In the meantime I ordered the Fax Modem board from Sharp for the FO-2080.
Does anyone think it is possible that the connection has caused the problem on both machines. It seems so coincidental. FRank

Re: Sharp FO-2080 system error E1-00

I replaced the Sharp FO2080 with a new fax modem board and machine is working again. When I returned machine to customer I examined line cord set-up. This is because when I brought loaner I did not examine it as the line cord was on desk from FO2080 still plugged into line and only needed to be plugged into machine.
I also examined it because there were fax-type problems on 2 different machines within a week of each other..This is what I found.
There is a base phone on the desk several feet from the fax machine. The base phone has 3 lines that jump when one is busy. One of the lines is used for the fax machine and the fax machine and base phone are connected to a 2 way splitter going into line in wall. This made me very apprehensive and I expressed my concerns that it was improperly hooked up.
Also when I got the Sharp AL-1661CS loaner back to my place the sending and receiving worked but sending did not work in customer's office. I did not hear dial tone when speaker was pressed in customer's office and there was no response to pressing numbers. They would not appear in display. This would be expected with no dial tone.
This is the MRI department in a hospital setting and the customer was going to have the telephone people from the hospital check the set-up to see if it was improper.
        Please give your input. Frank
