    MX-5500 Consistant Color Problems

Has anyone had any color consistency issues with the MX-5500 series on long runs? We have one of these machines at a print shop that is complaining about this problem. We have replaced developers, Drums, & primaries, as well as performed the entire calibration. We do not have many of this series in the field, especially in the environment of a print shop to compare notes. So if anyone has any experience with this issue or any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!!

p.s. - In saying color consistency, I am meaning like greens turning to grayish green, then back again to green. - just an example.

We have seen this problem with long copy runs, and toner add could not keep up, until the "please wait, copy quality is automatically adjusted" message appears. There is an engine softswitch you might try that "may" take care of the problem. Use TC 55-1 and change switch 4, bits 5 and 6 to a one. I understand this increases the frequency of the "please wait..." messages. Let us know if this helps you.

Have not had this problem, but what Zootech said should work. It will slow down production time, however. That said, this is not a machine for a print shop.
