    Dip Switches

    Hi All,

After attending site today I noticed another dealer has a Sharp machine on site (mx2600) which was flashing 'toner low' on the main screen. I know exacrly the same models that I've worked on don't do that, they just display a small icon.

Anyway I spoke with one of my technical colleagues who have worked on these devices longer than I have and he said that there can be lots of changes made to the DIP switches in the service mode that would probably have the ability to do this. Is this true? Because I would love to know if you can turn the maintenance messages off.

    Cheers

He must of meant the machines system soft switches not dip switches. Unfortunately I haven't come across a listing of what they are and their settings. There are only a few instances where they give you particular soft switch changes to effect a remedy for a problem. If you ever find a list I would love to have a copy. So far all I get are that they are set at the factory and "don't mess with them"!!

      Re: Dip Switches

I hate that these switches are not published. Factory use only my ass. If I am a Factory Trained Technician, why not give me some factory use only info?

This one will put a graph of toner remaining on the op panel:
      SIM 55-3
      Bit 22
      SW 5
If you press the gray box on the copy screen, a toner remaining graph appears.

Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!
