    AR-337 xp driver missing options

A client with an AR-337 had options on her screen showing a picture of the unit with the finisher on the left, the extra paper trays below, and the big roll-around aux paper tray on the right. Windows XP regular 32-bit. Clicking on each part of the picture let her control options for that part.

She accidentally deleted the printer from her printers folder. I restored it by reinstalling the driver. But damned if I can figure out how to get those options to show again. The picture on her screen just shows the basic copier with no options installed.

I downloaded the latest from Sharp, no difference. Has anyone run into this? I have had this problem with a Ricoh but it was as simple as going into the Advanced tab on the driver and telling it which options were installed, then those options appeared on the basic screen. There is no advanced options on the Sharp driver from what I can tell.

If you go to the control panel, printers, right click on the printer and goto properties there should be a tab for configuration where you can select the options installed on the machine.

Did I not just say that the options are not there? If they were there I would not be posting. Sheesh.

Did you follow brewster67's instructions?; if so, and you were logged in as an administrator, you would see the options to be checked. It sounds as if you are going to the printer properties from the print screen, and not the printer properties after right clicking the Sharp icon in the printers folder. Which driver are you using, PCL6, PCL5e, or PS? PCL6 worked just fine on our office XP. I know that earlier Sharp drivers had a problem with XP, and by loading the printer as LPT1 and finishing the install before creating an IP port, and then configuring the port as Raw, port number 10001.

You would probably get more responses without that attitude, we are here to help.

I apologize for flying off the handle but I am not actually a copier tech, I am a computer consultant and have been working with PCs (DOS and Windows) since the IBM came out in '81. I have to fool around with printer drivers and properties on a daily basis for multiple clients.

Yes, I have looked at both the Printing Preferences in the properties of the printer is the Printers folder, as well as the properties of the printer while in an application like Word. I cannot locate the options. I came here because there is a dearth of information on the net about these drivers.

I have tried the XP 32-bit PCL5e and PCL6 drivers so far.

The options are not in the printing preferences or in the application properties, the option selections are in the properties from the printer's folder. From the Start
Menu go to the ptr and fax folder, right click, go to properties, then configuration tab; you should be able to select options. As an aside, I have worked on electronics since IBMs core memory and CICs.
