MX-3501 Can't print after turning on the User Authentication.

    Hi all,
I have set up a customer for User Authentication, but now they can't print. I made sure that the print options were checked on the copier, but no luck. As soon as I uncheck the U.A. box, they can start printing again. What am I missing? Thank in advance.

The reason you can not print is you need to go to the driver properties on the pc's, go to print preferences, job handleing tab, and put a check in the box for user number. Then put that persons number in the box. By default you should be able to print black and white, but not color. In my experience it is just better to always use a number in the driver. Good luck!

On the older MX machines, once user authentication is ON, it is on for everything. The new MX machines can be set to assign codes to only certain features. As Dustin stated, go into the job handling tab and enter the user numbers. Make sure the color tab is set to color if the code allows color. If it is set to auto or black, the job will "disappear" into the ether. The opposite of this is also true; i.e if it is BW and set to color.

Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!

In one of the authentication buttons is a "disable invalid print" check box. If you uncheck this the copier should be able to print with out codes. Only walkup copy will be locked out.
