I have a code that keeps blinking, it is H 4. I called technical support and they told me that I must have had an electrical short and that the unit would need to be serviced. They had me unplug unit and plug into the wall since it was on a surge protector. Then they walked me through what they called resetting the unit, but it did not work. They told me that I would need to send the unit to them. I just want to be sure before I send this unit to them which will cost me about $70 because it is so heavy. Please any advice would be helpful. If someone has a way of removing the code and reseting the unit.

    Thanks Kisha

Code is a fuser unit temperature issue. If the reset did not work then it needs to be taken apart and fixed or a new one put in. If you are not a tech then I would suggest calling one.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

I have another problem. I am receiving a code L 1 that keeps blinking. Is there a reset code for this error message.
Thanks in advance for any help you may provide.

you may have a busted thermostat in the fuser section if it will not reset thru the usual reset procedure.

blinking L1 might be caused by the locking mechanism just below the scanner. Another cause could be your main board defect. Sharp has a technical bulletin regarding this problem.

I have found that the lubricant will get stiff on the scan rod. Try cleaning it with alcohol. The shipping lock will also cause this problem, I usually pop them off with a screw driver.

            best of luck!
