whats different with Sharp classroom training and online exams

hello guys i need to get something right, i was told that i need to get certified on the Sharp MXM283_363_503N MFP,i live in the caribbbean islands, and cant afford to goto a 5 day workshop in the u.s.,however i saw on my profile on sharp-IDNC, that i can do the exams online, i think was 20 questions 80% pass grade
will that exam be acceptable to sharp as being certified on that model? this is what the exam information says on idnc.i hope someone can clear this up for me, i was thinking it might be a pre-requiste, but it does not say that.

I believe the online exams are just a pre-requisite for the classroom training. The online testing also resets/updates once a year, but only for the new products.

It will be interesting to see what happens this summer. They are talking about 2 WEEK training classes for the new color production line. One week is bad enough, but I am not looking forward to the extra week.

i would love a 2 week course, the classes are like a vacation to me, they arent hard, u get out of town for awhile, and meet new contacts in the field.
the hercules started out as a 2week course but was cut down to 1. imo it should have stayed a 2 week or at least only cut down to a 1 1/2 week. was alot of optionional accesories to tear apart

When I started my career in this wonderful field, I LOVED going out of town for classes. New town, new model; good times. I had an opportunity to learn new products and technologies, explore a new town and meet new people; it was fun. Everyday was truly a learning experience. I am reminded about a training class in Lexington Kentucky for Lexmark. I had a smoking room, which around here is very rare, and free happy hour for hotel guests everyday from 5-7pm. To be clear, that's free booze for 2 hours. A week of that for a 26 year old male was splendid to say the least. The third day, a guy from my class passes out and had to be fished out of one of the lobby fountains. We called him "Flipper" for the rest of the week. Good times.

Flash forward 10 years. Now, I have a managerial role, a girl and a little girl, bills, responsibilities, and so on. The other thing I now possess is 10 years of real world experience. After having worked on Xerox, KM, Sharp, Lexmark, and pretty much anything else out there, one thing has always seem to hold true: they are pretty much the same with different panels and slight design modifications. I do not need 2 entire weeks unless it is a true production machine. The last class I did was a 3 day Sharp for this model. It was a joke. The instructor stood in front of the class and stated he was a programmer and "didn't really know" how a copier worked. If we had technical questions, he would grab someone from QC. Did I mention this was a room full of technicians doing a 3 day class on the web interface?

When I did the Hercules class, there was a blizzard and it was cut to 3 1/2 days, it was still enough time I thought.

It depends on which classes you have already attended. You have to search a little bit on the IDNC site to find out which are pre-req and which count as certification. Even though it has been several years since I last went to school I still qualify for most of the new machines for online certification! Drag as I enjoy my week vacation in Huntington Beach when I go to school! LOL

            Have a great day!
