    MX2610 operation panel

Has anyone else seen a problem with the operation panel on these fine machines? I had one that would randomly start doing things and beeping by itself. Or if you were in the scan mode entering settings it would randomly start to scan without having to push the start button. Seems to only act up in scan mode.

By the way, "fine machines" in the first line was sarcasm.
I know I should be ashamed of myself. Strangely though, I am not.

Make sure the firmware is up to date. They are on version 5 already and most issues relate to the U.I (user interface). Also, when you unbox them, make sure to leave the film on the touch panel. You would think it is packing material, but it is not. I do not care for the interface. It is generally slow and unresponsive. Call me old fashioned, but I miss the buttons.

I have seen quite a few interesting things on these "fine" machine:
    - control panel and machine completely locked up, requiring a reboot. This happened once while out with my DSS from Sharp. It was hilarious when he looked at me as if I knew why it was doing that. Priceless.
    - web page locking up for 5 minutes at a time. Web page not applying the setting.
    - LSU units bad after 200 prints.
    - turn on user authentication with the "login locally" option checked. Go to the machine, select "login locally" and the user AND password displayed on screen.
    - dropping offline
    - a few DV units and DC power supplies go bad.

Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!

Sorry I didn't get back to you and thank you for the input. The firmware was up to date. That's the first thing I check anymore. I install a new panel and it seems to have corrected the problem. One thing we do is to calibrate these screens on every call. I can see getting into a situation where you can't do anything because the screen is out of calibration. We have one on the sales floor that we had to do that too and it only had about 50 copies on it. Just barely got into sims.

Thanks again for the input and by the way, I miss the buttons too.

        Re: MX2610 operation panel

As luck (or un luck) would have it, we had a 2610 come in with a cracked touch panel. When I filed the claim for the part, I noticed a new, second number for the panel, ending in 52. When I actually received the part, it was subbed with a third panel ending in 53. This is the third "change" on this panel unit.
