    MX-2610 Scanning issue

I installed a new MX-2610 a few months ago. I set up scan on a MAC OS Server running Snow Leopard and using Samba for file sharing. Everything worked great up until last week when the client upgraded snow leopard to OSX Lion. Now the machine won't scan anymore. If you browse the network from the machine you can see the whole net work but when you try to see the shared file structure under the Mac Server it says selected server not found. When I hook my laptop up with the same IP scheme as the MFP it lets me see the scan folders and copy files into the folder. The copier has all the same info that I was inputting from my laptop. I set them up to scan locally to a windows machine for the time being with no issues. I 'm not super familiar with Mac or Linux so I'm trying to research and see what's causing this. Anybody know if the Upgrade to Lion would have caused this issue or knows about setting up SMB scanning this way? Beers for anyone that can lend a hand

    Re: MX-2610 Scanning issue

After doing some digging it seems that apple did away with samba in the lion upgrade switching to SMB 2.0. Sharp and most other machines only support 1.0. Seems to be some workarounds but nothing I wanna to get involved in. Still digging for some something easy lol but it's never easy between me and macs.

Hi Bud,I dont know if the Sharps do it (even though i work for a sharp dealer), but on the old Ricoh devices it required a firmware update for the machine to support SMB 2.0.Alternatively there is a way to set up scanning on MAC OSX using scan to FTP on the copier, and adjusting some setting on the Mac system, there is a bulletin available on the Sharp Tech Website for this.

From what Sharp is telling me and looking at the Specs they only support SMB 1.0. I did upgrade the firmware just on a whim to see but it didn't make any changes. The client would prefer to use SMB if possible(Looks like its gonna be FTP or use a windows machine). I'm trying one more thing tonight and after that I'm gonna have the wave the white flag for time being. SMBuP is a program someone wrote to reinstall the Samba Protocol on to OSX 10.7. It looks like it might work but I'm having some authenication issues trying to get to the folder from Win7 at the moment. I'm really starting to have a hearty disdain for apple
