    MX6200n Will not Calibrate

I had a customer ask how to calibrate their machine. Found that user calibration tab was missing so I enabled it in service mode. After enabling it would give can't read the test chart error. Then I discovered that all color copies were now very dark, prints were fine. Decided to completely recalibrate the machine. At 46-24 I got the error cannot read test chart. This happens at the engine and printer calibration. The machine does have a security kit MXFRX3.
    Anyone see this?
Can not do firmware yet as the machine is in a prison. (no phones, laptops, usb drives)

If the prints look fine but scanned objects are off, calibrate the scanner with the shading chart and SIM 63.

I believe this has been done, won't read the sit chart.

Test command 63-03 using the Sit chart works fine. The calibration procedure (including the jig) works fine up to the point where you lay printouts on the glass. Then its as if you had put them on the glass wrong. It won't read the calibration print. There is a problem with Fierys doing this but it has no fiery.

Thanks for the reply. This was a takeover service and the machine has been on site 4 years. I performed hd save/rewrite just to see. Thought of going into upper commands and delete pcu, then rewrite. Not sure if this would affect the security kit. I'm wondering if the original security kit firmware removed the user calibration function in admin?

My suggestion is to reload system software as it sort of sounds like someone loaded the wrong firmware (system with security kit has different SSW from regular systems).

If they will not allow you to bring the tools/items you need to fix it, guess they need to bring the machine out. Had same situation (a jail) and they said no tools, so we pushed it into the lobby - once. After that they made special arrangements.

Could call Sharp. May have to wait a little while but they are good about trying to help.

Reloaded the MXFRX3 software. No change. The machine sends email in color perfectly, but the scanned copies are dark and off color. Still won't read the calibration test charts. Reseated all connectors on Scanner control and MFP pwbs. Started getting E7-06. Reseated and cleaned Dimm 4 (1gig) several times and got rid of the code. Have ordered new dimms for all slots.

Or somebody in the past could have pushed the OC exposure settings too high in the past in sim? Or possibly could be the mother or DOCC pwb?

The problem was caused the by the dimms. Replaced all 3 and all is well. Thanks for all the replies.
