    MX2600N ADF jamming

    On an MX2600N, the ADF is having problems picking up the paper. The pickup roller is unable to get traction from time to time. We have replaced all three rollers in the ADF and yet it still has instances (like 1 of every 10 pages or so) where the pickup roller slips and is unable to advance the paper, causing mostly SPPD1_N or SPPD2_N jams.

    We tested the sensors, and they are all working OK. The motors also are fine.

    It really appears as though there is not enough downward pressure for the pick up roller to grab. Is it only gravity that provides the pressure for that pickup assembly?

    Or should I be looking elsewhere for the problem?

      Have you tried different paper by chance?

          I have had similar issues with the ADF pickup roller. There is a belt on the rear frame side of the doc feeder that has a tension roller on it. Loosen the tension screw and it will spring into place. tighten screw back up and you should be fine. MFP-TB-153R Sharp bulletin.

                      Thanks for the suggestions.

                      I did the retensioning mentioned in the bulletin and also cleaned the clutches. I was able to run over 400 test pages through it without even one page slipping or jamming, so hopefully this took care of it.

                      We have told the customer that the paper that they are scanning may cause some issues, since some these documents are two to three years old. (They are digitizing documents they are required to retain due to federal regulations.)
