    MFP wont recognize New HDD

hello guys, i really need some help on this one, a fellow tech went to a client to install a Data Security Kit MX-FR14 into a MXM363N,he told me that he removed the original ROMS and replaced it with the data security roms and put the product key into the MFP, as soon as the MFP rebooted he got Error E7-03, so i went back with him at the client site, tried installing the original roms, and got Error A0-15, i decided to then update to the latest firmware and then put the data security roms back in again, but still the E7-03 wont go away, i then got another HDD from a used MFp and it worked, came up with "Ready to copy"so i ordered a NEW hdd from our sharp dealers, went back to the client today put the new HDD in, same thing happened E7-03, is there some type off preparation i need to do with a NEW hdd from sharp, i thought maybe the hdd would automatically format itself when first put into the MFP,when i use another HDD from a used MFP it works, but not a NEW hdd, HELLLLLLLLLLLLP!!!!!!!!!!!!!, hope i dont get you guys bored with so much typing.

Backup the HDD files using SIM 56-1. Install the new drive and send the backup files to the new HDD. You can also try clearing the job log (62-10) as this can give E7-03 with a HDD problem.

Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!

With a new HDD you normally have to do a watermark update to get it to recognize the HDD. Sim 49-5. All the new generation Sharps require this for new HDD.

        Good luck.

Hello, There are two processes for installing a HDD on this model unit. One for a new HDD and one from a unit that was working (used drive). Also, use care in the new HDD that you purchase. If possible purchase one from the OEM, if this is not an option, try to match the HDD to the same make, model, and size. With that said, you will need to review the service manual on page 9-4 and 9-5 if you have it.
The new drive should do an auto formate; however, you need to go into SIM66-10 and clear the Fax memory (the memory must be cleared not only in the Fax mode but also in the scanner and internet fax modes). Than do SIM49-3t o install the manual data to the HDD. The trouble code, U2-60, is displayed - use SIM49-5 to install the watemark data to the HDD - after booting the machine, use SIM16 to cancel teh U2-60 trouble. As you can see, the service manual is really a must to preform this process correctly.
            Hope this helps
