    Finisher stapler shift motor trouble

hello guys, visited a client today that says they saw error code F1-08 com up on there MX-3501N Mfp, when i got there i did not see any error code, the mfp was being used for a copy run,i did Sim 3-3 to check operation of the FNX-1 Finisher, when i was testing the FSM [Finisher Staple Motor] it made a funny noise, like if the motor was locked or some gears in the finisher might be messed up, however the error code for the finisher comes up intermittant, anyone got any experience with this prob, and what i can do to resolve this?, thanks in advance.

There is a bulletin regarding this:MFP-TB-258. It basically states the following:
-The stapler harness bends at 90 degrees. If the machine was made BEFORE November 2007, it has the old style. Look at the zip tie around the end. Old style is white, new style is black.
-Check for continuity and/or replace the harness.
    -Firmware at v1.06 or higher.
-Open the inner finisher front cover. If it has a green sticker above the stapler icon, all retrofits have been done. If the sticker is blue sticker, only firmware as been done.

Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!
