    [Misc] MX2300N defaults

    Hi All,
first, I did use the search function! Really! I did! lol
But quick question, is there a means to force a mx2300n back to factory defaults? I had a customer get in the machine and make changes to the point, I have another tech looking and scratching our heads. I can't find it mentioned in the service manual.
    Thanks in advance!

(FYI: the customer changed ISP and tinkered in the copier, so, no matter what we do, we can't get an outgoing scan to email to process. We even have tried latest firmware and a 2nd network board to make sure we didn't have a hardware issue. A loaner machine is in place, so the network is working.)

Log in as admin in the System Settings, go to Storing/Calling of System Settings and select Restore Factory Defaults.
I'm not positive if this will reset network settings or not - if not, then go to Network Settings and select Reset the NIC.
Get a list print of system settings and network settings before restoring defaults.

From what you describe, if the ISP changed and they were using their email server, you would need the new ISPs email server and DNS settings. NETWORK SETTINGS>SERVICES SETTINGS. If the scan buttons are grayed out on the panel, they have been turned off under Disable Settings. If you are gonna factory default, back up your settings with SIM 56.

Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!

if they changed isp's they may have a new gateway address as well. the gateway should always be the first thing verified when troubleshooting email scanning...it's the start of the info transfer.

            Hi!

sometimes users type in their address and company name under System-settings -> Image Send Settings -> Scan Settings.
I've done this a couple of times and if you switch the two fields the SMTP server denies access due to a faulty mail-address.

My best tip is to try using wireshark or a similar program and connect the MFP to a good old HUB (A switch will not work) and your computer to the network.
Try to send an e-mail as you monitor the communication with wireshark. Then you can see what the ISP responds.
