64 bit drivers for an old Sharp AR-336 Copy/Printer

    Hi

Newbie allert!! I am trying to set up an office for my new startup company, and have very generously been given an old AR-336 copier/printer which seems to be in perfect working order. It copys fine but the issue that I have is all our computers are on 64bit versions of windows and I can only seem to find 32bit drivers to use its printer functions.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get it going or if there are any generic 64bit divers that will work with it? any help will be most gratefull received!

    Thanks in advance!

The 336 dropped support a long time ago, probably before 64 bit computer tech became mainstream. You won't find any Sharp made 64 bit drivers to support that machine.

That being said however, you could probably select any generic HP printer driver and be able to print, but you won't have any extra features and may even be limited to one tray of printing.

I understand it was a freebie for you guys in your startup, but perhaps an upgrade wouldn't hurt? Gotta spend money to make money after all...

You can also do a windows update from inside the print driver setup. It takes a few minutes to download all of the information then the Sharp driver will be there. It will need to be configured especially the port settings. You can try RAW port 10001 or LPR with a queue name of lp. It is a generic driver so there are limits to what you can do. You can also try and see if there is a Vista 64 bit driver for it, this works for windows 7. (Just looked and there doesn't seem to be a 64 bit Vista driver so I would do the windows update or as Akitu mentioned)

      Good luck.

        Hi
        perhaps the cheapest solution,
buy old pc with xp or load older windows,
link to network with others and print via this system

        good luck
