Sharp 5 day Classroom Training MX-2610N

hi guys, i am about to start my 5 day classroom training on the MX2310_2610_3110_3610N MFP, i have some questions on sharp exam structure, i was told by the instructor that its gonna be a written exam because we are doing classroom training,my question is, how do i study for these exams?the student guide that we get for the classroom in my opinion, dont really help with final exam questions, most come from the Service Manual from what i have seen, should i try to read the SM from cover to cover?that probably wont be possible,i just find it really difficult to understand what is the structure of the 5 day classroom training, when most off the exam questions have nothing much to do with the actual classroom training, can someone experience with sharp exams help me out?thanks in advance.

I have been to quite a few Sharp 5 day classes. I am about to do the new 7040 in a few weeks, er I think...keep reading. The days are broken down into sections of the machine. Usually document feeder on Monday, working your way to finishers on Friday morning before the test. The final exam is open book so you can use the study guide and the service manual. Watch the wording of the exam questions, they use double negatives sometimes in the way the question is phrased. They also always seem to have a few questions on the wiring and what boards control what motors or clutches. If this fuse blows in the machine, what functions would you lose...stuff like that. Use the find feature in the service manual PDF and you will be fine.
The trainer is hit or miss. Most are excellent, but I had one that told a room full of techs things like "We are not gonna take apart the drum because it is a pain in the ass" or "I am not a technician but if you have an overly technical question, I can grab one of the R & D guys in the next room". I hate to admit this, but it was the MX-2610 class so I hope you do not get that clown.

This is how it has been done in the past.
This was before Sharp lost over 4 billion dollars last year.
If you had not heard, the sales arm of Sharp is now handling training for new models which is already proving to be "interesting" to say the least. There is even a rumor floating around that they may outsource the training. Sharp is also closing tech support in Romeoville, Il and moving everything to NJ. Monday was the first time in 2 months that Sharp released new bulletins and firmware. They used to come out at least once a week.

    Good luck in the class!

Like redserv said, open book test. Pay attention and know where to find the info. There use to be 2 bugs thrown in the machine to troubleshoot as well. I am not sure if they still do it, but my experience was that you did not have to find the problem. You would have to write down the steps you have taken to find the problem and they would need to be in a logical order.

If you had copy quality issue, the first step would always be to print something out of memory, to see if it is in print or scan section. And then go on from there.

like they said it is all open book. Take notes etc. Most of the teachers aren't too bad and they normally go over everything on the test during the week. I find that if they repete things it is going to be on the test. They want you to do good or it makes there teaching skills look bad to their boss.
