Hi Guys, I have a real nasty one here. We have an MX2301 that, when it boots up, the screen stays dim with the Sharp logo on it with the twirling icons. The problem is, it wont get past this screen. We have changed;-the controller (including HDD)-the motherboard-the pcu-all DIMMs, memory modules and eproms-the AC and DC boards-the HV boards-the fornt door switch-unplugged all fans and motors-diconnected all peripherals-removed all units (dev, drum, toner,transfer,fuser)..and still the same. The only difference we get is if we disconnect the pcu and power it up. The screen stays dim, but it eventually goes past the boot screen to the home screen, but gives an error E7-90.Any ideas?

Re: MX2301 Screen locked
Try booting up while disconnected from the network. I just had an MXM450N doing this yesterday, customer had a data storm in their network causing the OP panel to lock up exactly as you're describing with the same E7-90 and also E7-80 codes. Had to reseat scanner connection to ICU PWB as well.
Mine got slightly past that, would get to normal copier display but stay locked up at "warming up" and all keys became non-responsive.Cthulhu for president! Why settle for the lesser evil? -
Re: MX2301 Screen locked
Well that sounds like quite the doozy. Did you put back the original parts or are they still all new? Most of the lockups I've seen/heard of are HDD or control board memory faults. Be sure that you didn't overload it with the RAM as well.Cthulhu for president! Why settle for the lesser evil?Comment

Re: MX2301 Screen locked
All spare parts were from a working MX2301 with similar memory modules and DIMMS. The unit is being re-built with its own boards now, but we are not confident that this will resolve anything. We have also changed the scanner control board, and control panel. One other thing that we have noticed is; if we power on the unit with the soft power button off(on the control panel), then turn on the soft switch, the screen stays off. However, if we power up the machine with the soft switch on, the screen comes on, albeit dim and locked!Comment

Re: MX2301 Screen locked
What about the exhaust fans in the delivery unit? I can't really come to any conclusion other than some faulty ROM chips and/or RAM chips, especially if the delivery fans aren't running. It seems like you've replaced everything there is to replace otherwise...Cthulhu for president! Why settle for the lesser evil?Comment

Re: MX2301 Screen locked
I had a similar issue a few weeks back. Replaced damn near everything and the screen was still locked. I want my damn buttons back!
On the MFP board, near the center, is a set of jumpers. Power the machine down, move the jumpers up, and turn it back on. This should unlock the touchscreen so you can get into service mode to reset codes. If you can get in, print 22-6 and look at the counters. If anything is pegged at 999999999, that is what is causing the lockup. In my case, the scanner counters were all 9's.
