    3501N with L4-30 error

Comes on usually right after warming up, after adjusting color and just comes to ready.

Have done Sim 6-2. All fans work. Checked connections.
I know book says could be also one of 2 boards.
Just wanting to see if there is something that is a known "other" cause for this.
Machine only has 58K color and 92K black. No trouble codes before this and very few jams etc.

Boards for all the 3500, 3501 and 4501.s we have in field have been quite stable. Actually no board issues for us so while I realize electronics can fail, just trying to look for the hidden obvious

    Thanks in advance!

    Sam,

Did you check the two fans above the primary transfer belt but under the toners I had to change those before.

Good thought. Maybe those aren't tested via the sim6-2 test.

How do you test those? Some machines, I have had to put a dab of white out on the blade to see if turns when it is in hidden place.

I think its tested on the same one in 6-2 as the paper exit fans but you cant hear them because of the paper exit fans, I think I put it into simulation mode while it was displaying ready to copy then removed the primary transfer belt and I could run it tricking the front door senser

does the machine have a fiery at all ? as I've definitely had this problem on one of 2 of my machines it was either the 2 fans above the transfer or I removed the fiery off the back of the machine both of those things worked on the machines

            Thanks all!
1.Will try the tricking door check.
            2.No doesn't have a fiery
            3. I am pretty certain the 3501 and the 3500 mother and PCU board are interchangeable. Manual is saying if fans are Ok and if harness etc. ok then one of these boards can be issue. I will have access to a 3500 that I can take boards off to check.
Will update after check machine later tonight or in am (we have the machine back at our shop now) so will pull boards at other location and hopefully have it fixed!

              Well problem solved.
oops on us. One of our techs originally went out and replaced registration clutch. Then after putting all back together, he got the L4-30. After checking connections etc, he had me come out. It had been some bit since i had back off. Turns out, he had taken the cover with the small fan off of the print controller unit and set that to the side and it got covered up by and office person while he was out to lunch.

Found cover fixed issue -- thanks for input. Sorry to have taken time when we should have figured that one out!!!!
