FO-2081 won't dial out.

If I go off hook I can dial out OK, If I don't use speaker, it goes into a redial sequence right away and gives a busy error after 2 tries. I swapped out the fax board with a new one, but it does the same thing.
Print, scan and copy work fine, it is just fax that fails.
Analog line or digital line makes no difference.
How do I turn on line monitor to see if it even dials?
Is this machine a POS or what.

There is a speaker key on the lower left of the op panel.
Three things come to mind.
1. Was the fax firmware updated. This is the firmware with the .spf file type
2. Are you using a 2 line phone cord? The 4 line cords can cause issue with Sharps.
3. Yes, it is is POS.

Got a replacement fax doing the same thing.
Firmware is latest and greatest.
Used phone cord that was in the box.
I noticed the dial tone would hesitate to come up steady, as in click tickity click then dial tone.
How can I turn off dial tone detect or increase the time the machine is waiting for true dial tone?

This may sound strange but try dialing 1 then area code then number ! I had 2 companies phone system default to that for some strange reason recently.

Set the following fax bit switches. SW 39 bits 1,2,3,4 set to "0000"
