This could be as simple as a dirty scan glass. Did he clean it? Does it do it when you copy? Though if exposure is set up differently for scan as it is for copy it may not appear when you copy.

Something is telling me this is going to be a pretty simple fix.

Went out on a Samsung last week that had two lines when scanning. One black, one blue. Scan glass had two ink spots on it. Yup, one was black ink, the other was blue ink.

I always loved going out to calls with the Service Manager, I remeber we would go to a Ricoh MP5500 in a school that would have a dev spill. I would watch the SM get stuck in, pulling out all the units and PF's. I would get to work doing a PM on all the Units and The Sm would clean all the spillage etc.

Sorry to go of topic, but the 2 of us would spend 2-3 hours doing this. I would attend a dev spillage on my own and my SM would call me after 2.5 hours and moan, i was taking to long. Thats when i would say " Ken, you want this dev spillage cleaned properly and right, so that the RTF for bushings and Dev takes 20 mins max" and he would say "yes you no i do, its part of ye job like" and i always smiled and replied " well then you have a short memory, because i was in Maynooth with you doing this TOGETHER and it took 2-3 hours, im on my own now repeating the same task. If your not 2 busy would you like to help me" and hung up.

Moral of this story, If your a SM be careful what tell your techy to do on calls.
Im glad to make my 200th post eventful long and exhausting.

Hope you solve the problem tomorrow pal

Check for a chip in the slit glass. It acts like a prism and breaks light down to its individual colors. It always seems to be green or blue.

I agree with Mojorolla ,I've seen it quite often. Often the scan glass has been scratched ( ie staple ,paper clip etc..) . Not that expensive to replace, many models are interchangable!
