    Sharp MX-2610 error F2-64

    Hi all

I am investigating error F2-64 (black toner supply error) on a Sharp MX-2610n.

We have tried 3 different black toner cartridges with no luck.

The machine had new black dev and drum 1 month ago. . . . .

    Actions performed:

    1) Checked toner gears are turning by marking up the gears at the back of the cartridge - they are turning
    2) Checked the toner supply pipe by vaccing out and checking toner is dropping into the dev tank - toner present after vaccing so toner is falling into the dev tank.
    3) Removed and cleaned the ATC sensor on the black dev assy
    4) Checked rotation of the mag roller in the black dev tank - moves freely.

All i can think of to do next is to change the black toner sensor followed by new dev tank and new dev. . . .. . .

My thoughts lead me to believe that if toner is getting to the dev tank, it is either not been distributed into the tank fully by broken augers or the toner sensor (ATC sensor) is faulty. . . .

Looking forward to any input you guys may have!

    Thanks!

We only have one of these so far so will be interested in the outcome. Interesting that they list changing the PCU PWB before some of the other things that I would test or swap out!

      Good luck.

Change sensors between them and put new black developer, then do 25-2. It is the cheapest option for verification.

I have had DOZENS of these codes and it is caused by a bad toner cart or (rarely) the old style DV unit lids. It will cause F2-4x and F2-6x error codes. Usually, replacing the toner cart and recalibrating will work. There have been a few DV units replaced when that failed. Pull the toners out and run SIM 25-1 and check the upper set of numbers. The lower the number, the more toner it has in it. You do not get an F2 code until the reading is below 73. If the number is very low, I do SIM 7, aging, DV check disable. When the machine reboots, the F2 code will not come up. Run a bunch of sky shots to leach out the excess toner, usually 100 - 200 pages gets the reading above 73.

These units also have a drum grounding issue. I had one an hour ago chew its third yellow drum since install. The fusers also have some unresolved issues like residual image and belt damage. This machines firmware is version 7 already. They have not gotten all the bugs worked out yet.
