    MXM850 w/ FNX5 and punch getting FPCHMVMJ and POD_SD jams

    Have 2 MXM850 with this finisher and punch unit. The jam codes are for the punch shift motor and paper exit sensor. The finsiher entry roller is the one that binds up. You can try to turn it and it is stuck, if you remove the waste belt unit it turns freely. This is being caused by the punch unit waste belt binding when the little bits of paper get under the belt and get caught between the belt and gear at each end of the belt. Clean the tabs out and the unit will work just fine for a period of time and then bind again. I have been messing with this problem for a while now and wonder if someone has any suggestions as there is nothing that I can find on SHarpnet or Sharp IDNC. Units have current ROM versions.

    Both units have about 2M copies and about 200K on the punch units. Have taken then apart and cleaned the shift motor shaft, drive gear assembly (this gets really dirty for some reason) and waste belt unit. I think I'm missing something but can't figure out what!

      This was discussed at our last tech roundtable meeting. Replace the belt/conveyance unit and the problem should resolve. Several other techs had this exact same issue.

          I was thinking along the same lines but that seems like a short term fix not a permanent one? Thank you for the information, sorry to say that I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem!! LOL

              i agree with mojorolla..have had the same issue..I replaced the belt.had the punch holes all backed up in the unit...good luck

                  Thanks for the information rainmaker and mojorolla. The scrapping mylar on our punch units was flipped under the belt so we replaced both of them. Our Sharp rep said to watch out for the chads "clumping" due to the paper that customers were using, our client is using a different brand of paper this year so will see if that makes a difference. Our amigo down south has been having the same issues and carries a spare waste punch unit with him!
