So I've installed a MX-4501 into the machine. The Machine is displaying that the toner is not reading. What could be the problem? Mishandling? Bad installing? Chip defect?

Re: Toner Cartridge MX-4501n not reading
Yeah, I actually tried it in another machine and it's giving me the same problem. The product is OEM and it's a black toner. I'll try to reinstall the old toner but I already know that one works. Could there be any other suggestions?Comment

Re: Toner Cartridge MX-4501n not reading
ok to be honest you have solved the problem yourself, if you tried it in another machine the cartridge is FAULTY. all you can do is change it for another one and either return it under warranty to the dealer/supplier. Like i said there was an issue some time ago with oem sharp toner.Comment

Re: Toner Cartridge MX-4501n not reading
The toner may be compacted. There is a TB about this. Try to shake the cartridge and move the small gears on the back of the toner cartridge. If these move smoothly then you should be okay, if they are bound then you have a bad cartridge.
Good luck.

also make sure the tape seal came complety out when it was removed. have had several where the tape broke and stayed inside the cartridge blocking the toner passage. on this machine and others. open the trap door on the toner cart and make sure the tape isnt there. if so remove itComment

On the slide tab where the toner comes out. There's a small piece of plastic that sticks out. That wouldn't happen to be this 'seal tab' would it?Comment

Re: Toner Cartridge MX-4501n not reading
The box that the toner came in has a set of pictograms to show how to properly change the cartridges. There is a small piece of plastic that has to be removed before installing the toners (see the box or the operator's guide if there is a question) but you wouldn't be able to close the front door if they weren't removed. There is also a CRUM chip on the back that contains the toner info for the copier and has plastic "spikes" that stick out to guide it into it female connector, you don't want to mess with that.Comment
