Tools seem to have a way of finding legs in the shop. Cannot seem to find the color setup tools like the density jig and sit chart. Im setting up a brand new mx-m314 soon and am without the setup tools. For certain the boss is going to pissed when I tell him the tools walked. If i know him at all he will refuse to order new tools. My question is can I get away with factory calibration and deliver to the customer? What problems may I have in doing so?

Re: Initial color box setup
An Mx-M314 is not a colour unit, only colour scanning. From what we've experienced here, the scanner calibrations from the factory will typically suffice, alongside the 50-28 positioning adjustments. Check your print quality with 64-1 and if it's not satisfactory, make any necessary adjustments.Cthulhu for president! Why settle for the lesser evil? -
Re: Initial color box setup
Thanks for your reply, I will definetly check that when it arrives. I also have a mx-c402 that is going out to the same customer. This machine I believe is a color box. Again, the same situation with this unit....no setup tools. What should be my concerns?Comment

Re: Initial color box setup
C-402 is definitely a colour box, same concerns as the Frontier MX-C311. Don't have very much info about it as I was badgering Sharp for a week or two to get the manuals posted on their website. Same ideals though, check CQ with 64-5 and 64-1 and see if they're satisfactory, move on from there.Cthulhu for president! Why settle for the lesser evil?Comment

Re: Initial color box setup
This is my standard MX series color setup:
25-2
50-22
50-28
44-2
44-6
44-26
46-74 (or 46-24 and 67-24)
Use 64-5 to check overall alignment and color densities
I have only ever used 44-13 in the field if color calibration goes bad.

Re: Initial color box setup
Also, do a 63-08/67-28 to save factory color calibrations to the service side.Comment
