My customer had a "maintenance required-DK" show up. Being the tight wad that I am, I'd like to reset the PM counter without changing the drum yet. Will this screw up copy quality at all? Thanks

I'm not a copier tech, but I think you've answered your own question.

The machine compensates for the age and wear of the drum. If you reset the drum count it will affect print quality.sigpicComment

Re: MX3501N Can I reset the black drum maintenance meter without changing drum?
I do this routinely with local customers. Reset the counters and monitor CQ for adverse changes... When the time comes, swap out the drum and the DV. Can usually wind up with an extra 5-20k on them depending on their usage.
Nice link by the way... Might wanna work on your BBCode...Cthulhu for president! Why settle for the lesser evil?Comment

Looking at it, I realize it's html and not bbcode. Very similar programming languages, just replacing <> with [] most of the time, and I believe bbcode is direct in that it does not require quotation marks with some commands like colours or anchors.
I could fix it up for you, but I feel that might be a slap in the face to Paul, correcting a link to another manual site... Feel free to do so yourself however. I'm sure you can Google your way to success.Cthulhu for president! Why settle for the lesser evil?Comment
