We are having a print quality issue on our MX-5001N we are printing a good bit every week for a local publication/magazine we do on average of 500 11x17 front and back stapled pamphlet color covers and b&w inside with a color center page and after about 100 copies it starts POSTERIZING the color pages and loses all of its Gradient detail I will run a print calibration and Gama calibration and it will run a few more properly then start again has anyone had this issue before?

Re: Print Quality Issues on MX-5001N !Posterize!
My "full calibration" is as follows:
Clean all 4 chargers and LSU slit glass. Clean the procon sensors with a q-tip. In odd situations, I will remove the platen glass and clean it and the mirrors in the optic cavity.
50-22
50-28 (on the Aries, Virgo, and Polaris, run 50-28 first, then 50-22)
44-2
44-13 (with the jig)
44-6
44-27 to reset half tone
44-26 to set half tone
46-74 (can be run a few times)
63-8
67-28 (these lock in the targets for scan and print)
If you still have issues:
-when it starts "posterizing" yank open a door while its running. See if you can determine if it is happening before the fuser as the cleaning belt on the model (and the 7001) can cause a lack of detail when the belt surface gets gunked up.
-I am assuming these are print jobs so 67-17 will flush print memory, seen this fix blurred images before.
-you mentioned Ledger paper size, 48-6 is to adjust fuser speed. Increase the setting 5-10. The fuser can get out of sync on Legal and Ledger.
-63-11 and select a new target, then run full calibration again. DEF1, which is default, leans towards magenta. DEF2 is right in the middle of the color wheel. DEF3 leans towards cyan.
Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!Comment

I believe on a 5001, sim 46-74 can be performed to the same effect. Definitely seems like it might need calibration as Mojorolla said.Cthulhu for president! Why settle for the lesser evil?Comment
