    MX4101 Intermittant Trouble

An MX4101 was brought into the shop for a very intermittent trouble. The machine has the latest firmware for the DSK. The attachment shows TC 64-6, and scanned test chart through the doc feed, and off the glass. The machine can go days of testing without failure, then is pretty consistent with the compressed output. I ran TC 60-1 to test memory and it one time showed there was "NONE" in slot 5. Tried the 512MB in slot 5 and 3 and the results were still bad. The problem can show up whether simplex or duplex through the doc feed, off the glass or self prints. The HDD has been formated and test good. The MFP pwb was tried with same results.
If this problem sounds like something you've seen, I would sure like some help.
    Thank you in advance...

    Re: MX4101 Intermittant Trouble

The first one looks like some kind of digital noise. The second attachment looks like the doc feeder is smashing the hell out of the image. You could try 50-28 OC, black mag ratio, print setup, and doc feeder setups. Might also consider the LSU or LSU motherboard. Disconnect the doc feeder. If the machine was made November 2011 to January 2012, they used sub par memory chip slots on the SCU board. You could also try 67-17 memory dump.

Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!

Re: MX4101 Intermittant Trouble - Update

After trying MFP with all new memory, mother pwb, and PCU, the trouble remained. I tried pulling the LSU to reseat connectors and had a REALLY hard time pulling the power connector with the clasp.
I think some kind of corrosion had built up and may have been causing the troubles. Since re-seating all LSU connectors (Feb 19th), the machine has not failed (but we'll have to wait and see after it returns to the customer).
