Sharp MX3501N - Clicking Noise Issue

    Original Post:

I've got an issue with one of the DV Units - I have aclicking noise that I am pretty sure is one of the DV Units. Issue I'm havingis that I ran into this before but cannot remember or find my notes on how toset the system up so that I can individually check each Unit to isolate andfind out which one is bad.

    Any help would be appreciate.

    Thank you.

I actually figured it out. What I wanted to do was isolatethe Dev Units. The way I was able to do this was to go to SIMMs 7 Sub 1 andthere I can actually disable things, pulling all the Dev Units out, put one inat a time to figure out which one is giving me the issue. You can actually pullone out at a time, too, to see if the noise goes away. The issue persisted - Itook out the Transfer Unit and the noise went away - however, I put anotherTransfer Unit in and still had the Clicking noise. I took out the Transfer Unitand hand turn the two gears in the rear of the machine - and the Transfer Unititself. It was only when I did this that everything went okay

    Now:

I thought Iarrested the clicking issue, but a call today, client saying that the issue isback. But it isn't the Dev Units. They checked out good.
When I pulled the Transfer Unit during test, the clicking noise went away.

What I did that seemed to do the trick - stopping the clicking noise, was tohand turn the gears for the Transfer Unit - back of copier, and then thingswere good. Something is binding up - supply? to cause this issue -

    Still stuck with an issue.

    Any input appreciated.

I have had this series machine get a ticking noise from the web unit in the fuser, if the web turns easy by hand then swap out the fuser. The bearings and bushings can make a ticking noise, hope this helps. Dan
