    MXM623U No Power On

I've got an MXM623N that will not power on. When you turn on the internal switch it clicks, then the green light turns on on the operation panel power button but nothing else happens. Pressing the op panel power button does not do anything. Have changed out MFP memory and Hard drive but did not correct problem. I also checked outlet power and everything appears to check out ok. I have not called Sharp yet because I have no cell reception in this area and it is a very busy office with no telelphone close to the machine. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

I had a 753N present with similar symptoms. Showed up fine in our office, passed setup and tests, and upon delivery to customer location 24 hours later, the machine died. Green lights would go on, fan would power up, but no display and no activity beyond that. Did some tests with Sharp and confirmed there was a short in the 24V line. The machine was replaced in its entirety rather than a part order, finding the short proved to be far more difficult than it was worth.

Unfortunately for us this machine is not new. It is about 5 months old. The fans do not power on either. The only thing that happens when you turn on the inside power switch is the "click" sounds the machine makes and the green light on the op panel. That is it.

I did say similar symptoms, in all likelihood you could have a very similar short in a different location. Alternatively, the HDD could have died prematurely, though I hesitate to mention it because I can't tell which machine you actually have. Title says 623U (no HDD), first post says 623N (HDD).

Whoops. It is a "U" model but there is a hard drive. I swapped it as well with a 2.5" drive that I had and it did not correct the problem either. Looks like a call to Sharp Call Tracking is in my future...

Was the drive freshly formatted or from a like machine? If it's a fresh HDD make sure the watermark is uploaded with the firmware too. I kicked myself for forgetting that one time...

The drive was out of a working MXM363N. Nothing else had been done to is.

Could be a problem. Sharp firmware is all stored on the HDD, so you could have been trying to boot with the wrong firmware, and that would likely cause an issue.

If that drive is still loaded up in the machine, try loading the watermark and regular firmware for a 623/753 and see what happens.

Might be the flash ROMs. I've had a similar symptom on a MXM700. Have you tried reseating the Flash Roms?
If that doesn't do it, try replacing the set, main, boot and pcu.
                    Hope this helps. RL

                        Re: MXM623U No Power On

After testing about every voltage on the ac/dc circuit this afternoon it appears that we have a faulty DC power supply. There are no signs of life from the machine at all after other tests. No voltage whatsoever is coming out of the DC power supply. I get 5v to the Mother PWB from the Sub DC power supply but that is the only DC voltage that I could measure. I am getting 120v AC from the AC power supply to both the DC power supply and the Sub DC power supply. Have ordered a replacement and will update you all on my results. Thanks for the suggestions.

Good to know, sounds similar to my own 753 issue. Machine was RA'd in my case, good luck!
