    [Jamming] Sharp 2301 Paper Jams

    Hi Guys

Im new to site and this is my first post on here so firstly like to say hi, Im currently an onsite trainee engineer with sharp samsung and hp machines.

Having an issue with a sharp mx2301 which is jamming in the fuser unit, so far machine has had a new transfer belt kit including PTC, fuser unit, black drum, two of them were replaced recently due to service intervals, all counters were reset once parts changed. When the jam occurs you can pull the paper out of the top of the fuser unit and as your looking in that side of the machine the right hand side of the paper at the top has a little curl in the paper, Im at a loss with it cant find anything that could be causing it am open to any suggestions.

    Many Thanks in advance

    Richard

Welcome to CTN! As a Sharp trainee you're probably not overly familiar, so we'll help you out.

First thing you should do is take a look at your jam log in sim 22-3. It'll tell you what sensor was either not reached or held too long. Refer to your manual for sensor names and locations.

Jamming in the fuser is typically a POD1_N jam, indicating the first flag arm above the fuser was not reached. It's a little difficult to determine what exactly you're describing in the paper when removed from the fuser, by a little curl, do you mean it looks like it hit something or do you mean the paper is more curled than it should be? If it's the former, check your paper path and see if you can feed paper through by hand, if the latter, flip your paper in the tray or get a new pack of paper.

Samples are always great for helping to diagnose online like this, if you can take a picture and upload it I'm sure we can be more helpful.

If it looks like paper is hitting something look at the paper guide on the door. I have seen toner build up on the paper guide cause jams as the paper left the fuser.
