    Legal Booklet Printing MX-2640N

I am having an issue trying to print booklets on Legal sized paper on a brand new MX-2640N with a FN10 finisher.

When it folds and staples the document, I have a large amount of white space in the margins of the document and it looks like the machine is shrinking the image on the page.

I've tried various page sizes and margin settings inside the documents (Word, PDF, Publisher) with various degrees of success, but the margins are still larger than they should be.

I'm quickly running out of ideas to try and figured I would reach out to the community to see if anyone has run into this same issue and have figured out what step I am missing.

    Thanks for any assistance!!

Have you tried to configure the print driver instead of configuring the software? Most of the Sharp drivers allow you to select those options.

What page size is the document setup for? 8 1/2 X 7 is not a standard size. When a page that is letter is reduced to fit on half of a legal page it reduces proportional and you have a large void area. Are you using normal settings for zoom or the fit to page? What happens if you use ledger paper or use letter in the landscape direction? I think it is mostly the legal size page doesn't work well with pamphlets.

My preferred method of dealing with FN10 finisher problems would have to be explosives.
I know I should be ashamed of myself. Strangely though, I am not.

I agree, what a heap. However, the new firmware has pretty much squashed the F1-08 issues, so kudos to Sharp.

Under the paper tab, are you selecting the fit to page option? The margins will have to be adjusted in the document itself or created as half the size of the booklet when using Pamphlet mode. So in your case, half a legal page, create the file as individual 8 1/2 x 7 page size and set the margins in the original document. It is all dependent of how the original file is created. For example, if a Word file is created in booklet format and you select Pamphlet mode, you get some very interesting booklets.

I can help you! Just found this thread and thought I'd share the info in case anyone still needs it:

            1. Format the page as a 8 1/2 by 11 document--even though you want to print on legal. The printer will shrink the page for you!2. Save your word/pubilsher/whatever file as a pdf.
            3. Open the file in adobe reader.
            4. check in adobe dialogue: reverse pages
            5. check in adobe dialogue: booklet

            Go to printer properties:
            1. select 2 sided tablet
            2. select staple: 2 staples
            3. under special modes: multi sheet fold

You should be good to go! I had the same problem and finally figured it out after much blood, sweat, and tears.
