    Re: mx 700 connectivity

Their IT person probably wants to decrease the MTU size because of the VPN. The MTU is the maximum transmission unit. The default is 1500 for most NICs and normal uses. However, the VPN adds data to the packet(increases the size) and this can make the total packet greater than 1500 bytes. This can lead to packet fragmentation and can harm network performance (and some routers may actually just drop larger packets). To combat this, the IT person probably wants to drop the MTU to about 1400 bytes, which provides room for the VPN to add its information without exceeding the standard 1500 byte packet size.

Sorry, but the editor won't let me start a new paragraph, so this is my way to break up the reply.
That said, I just took a quick look at an MX-2600N and could not find a place to change the MTU size (I thought that it'd be somewhere in the Network Settings or Interface settings). If your MX-M700 uses the older web page interface (where it is admin-Sharp to log in), there may be something in the settings to change the MTU or packet size. Good Luck.

I took a quick look at the older style web interface and I didn't see a setting to change the MTU there either. Your best bet may be to call Sharp support and see if there is a soft switch setting to change the MTU size.
