The only thing that I can think of, especially if you are not getting and L3 code would be resetting the machine. I am not familiar with the 1045 but if it is like the 1551 then try the following

Press: C, exposure, C, exposure the machine should display should go dead. Enter the number 14 then hit Start twice.
