Make sure the LCC is firmly attached and the locking screw is in the correct position.

I've done fairly similarly stupid things with LCCs on other machines, and at times it has (at a glance) appeared to be properly seated, but wouldn't read. Turns out the glance was too quick and it was in fact, not.

Had one of these that the "lock release screw" was still tight, not loose like it should be for normal operation. The LCC looked like it was secure but the micro switch at the rear could not trip, because of the lock mechanism, to indicate the LCC's presence.
In diagnostics the tray would lift, but would not otherwise in the copy mode.
          From the install manual:

"* If the screw is tight, the tray will not be locked."

Check the secondary power cable. In all regions other than North America, the MXM850 has 2 power cables... One for the engine, one for any peripheral devices (LCC, finisher etc). Its very easy for the secondary power cable to be turned off, leaving only the engine detected and shown on the panel. Even with a flashing light on the LCC PWB, if the secondary power is off, there'll be no peripheral devices shown.

Check 22-10 to see if the LCC is detected.

This only occurs on the 850, as the 950/1100 share a single power supply.
